Oleksandr Usyk opens the door for Canelo Alvarez to fight for the sake of “money”

Via Robert Segal: Oleksandr Usyk says he’s ready for a “Bizarre War” Because “moneyAgainst Canelo Alvarez before he hung up his gloves.

Whether the match against Canelo is possible will be largely determined on his success in the rematch with Dmitry Bivol. It would be pointless if Canelo (58-2-2, 39 KOs) and Usyk tried to sell a pay-per-view match to the boxing public if the Mexican star lost to Bivol again.

IBF, WBA & WBO Heavyweight Champion Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) revealed today that he plans to fight three more times before retiring from the sport. The fight Usyk wanted was against Tyson Fury, Canelo, and a fight in Ukraine.

“He wanted to fight me. But it will be an odd war, just for the sake of making money. Why not? I mean, it’s just for the money,” Usyk told USYK17 about his preference for fighting Canelo Alvarez.

There’s no other reason for Canelo and Usyk to fight other than money because it wouldn’t be appropriate. When someone mentioned to Canelo the possibility of a match against Usyk, it was before his loss to Bivol and his less than impressive performance against Gennadiy Golovkin last Saturday night.

When you look at those two fights, Canelo won’t stand a chance against Usyk unless he stays on first item for the entire fight. The 5’8″ Canelo will have to give up a lot of height and reach compared to the 6’3″ Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs).

It would help Canelo if he first fought in cruiser class with one of the champions like Lawrence Okolie before moving up to heavyweight to take on Usyk for his three world titles. Of course, Canelo won’t do that because it’s just going to be a money fight with Usyk, and I don’t think he really believes he can win.

[Deontay] Wilder, I guess. [But I prefer] Anger. I didn’t choose an easy exit,” Usyk said when asked who would be most comfortable in a bout with him aside from Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.

Deontay Wilder’s managers will keep him away from Usyk because they know it’s a bad style match for him. They are trying to rebuild him, and it will ruin their plans if they throw him in with Usyk, a smaller version of Tyson Fury.
