Oleksandr Usyk looks “laser-focused” for Anthony Joshua says David Diamante

Via Craig Daly: Ring broadcaster David Diamante says he feels that unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk will be impacted and laser-focused for his rematch with Anthony Joshua on Saturday night.

Diamante says that Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) doesn’t just fight for himself. He is fighting for his country in Ukraine, and that will bring more to him.

Although Joshua also looks very energetic mentally, he doesn’t have a similar look compared to Usyk. That’s not to say Joshua can’t win, as he still has a huge advantage in punch power and size available to him.

Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) will need to use his strength and size to get Usyk out of there in the first six rounds as it could end badly for him.

“I think they both look laser focused. Usyk looks really in the moment,” David Diamante said to Against TV Hub. “I think what is happening with his country has made him focus on something else, if that can happen because we have seen what he has done through cruiser class. It is just wonderful.

“He is that kind of person. He’s laid-back, he’s funny, but when it comes to his business and his work, he’s focused on the laser, but now it’s like he’s on another level.

“AJ, it’s the same kind of situation. He is extremely focused. He’s got a new coach, a new attitude, and he just can’t wait to get in there and do business on Saturday.

“This is what we love. Two freight trains go head-to-head for the world’s unified heavyweight championship. It doesn’t get better.

“I think the battle is won or lost in your training, especially you guys at this level. You may have a slight advantage. Usyk has a lot going for this fight because he’s not just fighting for himself. It’s really for an entire country at this point. I think that’s a big problem.

“It depends because you have a guy like Usyk who is a boxer. So you have to work on your time,” Diamante said, saying that Joshua and Eddie Hearn want the fight to end early on Saturday.

“You have to set traps and be able to catch him. That could take less than six laps or more than six laps, and it may not happen at all‘ said Diamante.
