Oleksandr Usyk Calls Tyson Fury’s Undisputed Heavyweight Clash After Beating Anthony Joshua | Boxing News

Oleksandr Usyk has called for an undisputed heavyweight world champion clash with Tyson Fury after clinching his WBO, WBA and IBF titles with a spectacular decisive rematch victory over Anthony Joshua.

Usyk defeated the boxer at Jeddah on Saturday night to repeat last year’s win over two-time world champion Joshua, who put on a brave and improved performance against the Ukrainian.

Fury, whose last fight was a knockout win over Dillian Whyte in April, recently reaffirmed his intention to retire from boxing, but appeared in a social media post shortly after his win. Usyk that he will return to the ring.

“I’m sure Tyson Fury hasn’t retired yet,” Usyk said in the ring after his decisive win.

“I’m sure, I believe he wants to fight me. I want to fight him and if I don’t fight Tyson Fury, I won’t fight at all.”

Joshua took up the microphone in the ring after the loss to Usyk to explain his post-match disappointment and congratulate the Ukrainian.

Moments later, Fury posted a video on Instagram in which he criticized both Joshua and Usyk, before suggesting he could be persuaded to leave the sport for a short while.

“It was one of the worst heavyweight title fights I’ve ever seen,” Fury said.

“I will destroy both of you in the same night. Get your checkbook out because the Gypsy King is here to stay forever.”

Usyk dedicates victory to Ukraine

Usyk attributed his victory to Ukraine, with the rematch being delayed after Russia invaded the country in February.

“I did all this victory for my country, for everyone, the army is defending the country,” Usyk said. “Thank you very much.”

Joshua lost his temper after losing to Usyk in the rematch and reacted angrily by throwing two belts and arguing with his team.

Unlike their first encounter in London last September, Joshua was able to put Usyk under extreme pressure as he unleashed substantial punches at various stages of the bout.

The most notable attack launched by Brit came in the ninth round, when Usyk was left to hold the bell, before bouncing back with a dominant 10th round to re-establish control.

“This is already history,” Usyk said.

“Generations will watch this match, especially the one where someone tried to hit me hard, but I endured and turned it a different way.”

‘Fury can defeat Usyk!’

Former super-middleweight world champion Carl Froch says Fury remains the top boxer in the heavyweight division, and is “definitely” capable of beating Usyk.

Froch told Sky Sports after Usyk’s win over Joshua: “Tyson Fury is the best in the tournament.

The Sky Sports Boxing Board of Directors stood up to support Anthony Joshua in the studio.

“He’s shown it time and time again. He fights against Deontay Wilder, the way he uses his size and reach, and can throw multiple punches from different angles. each other and use their own weight effectively.

“The weight will be a big advantage for him in the way that he’s going to use it against Usyk.

“Tonight was the first time I saw him, where I thought he could stop here. He’s beatable. Tyson Fury can beat Usyk, for sure, and I think he is. It’s number one.”

Meanwhile, cruiser world champion Lawrence Okolie insists that the allure of an undisputed bout would be too much for either fighter to turn down.

“I think the chances of being undisputed heavyweight world champions for both are just too much,” said Okolie.

“So I think he (Fury) will at least be out for one last dance.”
