Old Google Photos images ‘broken’ for some users

Some Google Photos users have complained that the images they have stored on the cloud library for several years are being “broken”. Users on Android, iOS, and the web have reported this issue reflected in older photos, especially those that are 5 years old or older.
The report on this issue was shared on Google The Photos Help page and some users have also disclosed this issue on their Reddit accounts (discovered by 9to5Google).
However, it seems that not all users experience this problem. Google even fixed the photos of some users in the past few days and the tech giant is expected to resolve the issue for all users soon.

How the issue affects Google Photos
Recently, some users started noticing that deep lines and cracks were affecting some images on their Google Photos library. The damage was rampant throughout some of the paintings, and others began to show areas of blur and distortion.
Some images are more damaged than others, and users have even noticed white dots appearing on some of their images. Furthermore, some images were found with multiple impact patterns or severity levels.
The damage on these digitally stored photographs is the same as the water damage on the physically analog images. Some of these affected users have also reported problems downloading images – both for individual downloads and even while in use. Google Takeout.

However, the original copies of these photos appear to be unaffected and only some of the edited photos were found damaged in the process. Google Photos App.
