Old Friends, Thoroughbred Retirement Ranch in Georgetown, Ky., will be holding a special Breeders Cup Celebration on Sunday, November 6 from 12:00-4 p.m.
Tickets are $40 for the public and $20 for Old Friends Clubhouse members. Children under 12 years old are free. Reservations can be made online by visiting the Old Friends website (www.oldfriendsequine.org), or call the farm at (502) 863-1775.
Guests will enjoy Proud Mary’s barbecue buffet, live Bluegrass music by Steve Norman and Friends, and both live and silent auctions of racing memorabilia, collectible horse ropes, and artwork. art, pottery, and more – many of which will celebrate the history of The Herders’ Cup.
There will also be a live performance by equestrian artist Robert Clarke, who will create an on-site picture of the Breeders Cup ‘2022 (TBA) winner. The original painting will be auctioned off later this afternoon.
In its history, Old Friends has won the Breeders’ trophy 14 times, including Gulch, the 1988 Sprint winner, and the 1991 and 1996 Classic winners, Black Tie Affair and Alphabet Soup respectively.
Old Friends founder and President Michael Blowen said: “It’s always exciting when Breeders’ Cup takes place in our backyard at Keeneland. “It was a great opportunity for fans to visit Old Friends, meet our winners and celebrate the history of the Championship. It was a great party. “
