OK State takes 1st place Baylor 2nd loss of the week

It’s safe to say Baylor still won’t be ranked No. 1 in the country on Monday.

The top-ranked Bears beat their second straight game on Saturday, losing to Oklahoma State 61-54 at home. Baylor lost to Texas Tech’s 19th place earlier in the week.

It marked the first two losses of the year for the Bears, who have held the top spot nationally for the past five weeks. Last year’s national champions are currently 3-2 since the start of the Big 12.

It was the second disappointment against a ranked opponent in the conference game for the Cowboys, as they beat Texas No. 14 at home on Jan. 8. They sat 9-7 overall and 2 -3 in Big 12.

Baylor almost had a miraculous comeback, when Oklahoma State led to 17 in the second half. The Bears brought it down to a last-minute one-point game, but the Cowboys were able to hold it off in part thanks to transfer defender Bryce Thompson, whose six-pointer in the final 24 seconds was capped by a dot. coal sinks in the last second.

Thompson finished with a career-high 19, the only Oklahoma State player to reach double that number. Bryce Williams had nine points, four rebounds and six assists.

As for Baylor, senior Matthew Mayer finished with 16 points and 5 rebounds. LJ Cryer scored another 18 points from the bench.
