As previously reported, O.J. died April 10 after a battle with cancer. He was 76.
Malcolm LaVergne told TMZ that Simpson’s body was cremated. After that process, Simpson’s ashes were turned into jewelry for his loved ones.
His four grown children, Arnelle, Jason, SydneyAnd JustinSimpson is said to have received cremation jewelry. During her lifetime, Simpson welcomed five children, by PEOPLEHe and his first wife, Marguerite Whitley, welcomed Arnelle, Jason, and Aaren, who died as a toddler in their home swimming pool. His second wife, the late Nicole Brown Simpson, was the mother of Sydney and Justin.
TMZ reports that OJ’s four surviving children signed the cremation jewelry. Malcolm reportedly declined to describe what kind of jewelry the family received, confirming that only the children were recipients. He reportedly did not receive any jewelry and had no interest in it.
In total, the cremation, funeral gifts and death certificate cost the OJ estate $4,243.06.
OJ still owes his ex-wife’s family millions of dollars for her death
While Malcolm may not be interested in the OJ jewelry, he is very interested in clearing Simpson’s posthumous debt.
Earlier this month, the attorney spoke to TMZ about needing more than $296,000 to pay off creditors and proposed liquidating the late athlete’s Las Vegas home to raise the money.
Additionally, OJ Simpson died owing Nicole’s family and her friend, Ron Goldman, a $33.5 million judgment. A jury awarded the amount in 1997 in a civil trial against him.
With the interest on the debt accruing, Rolling Stone reported The amount ballooned to more than $100 million. At the time of his death, he was said to have paid only $133,000 in debts, according to Goldman’s family attorney.
