Oil falls below $80 a barrel
US oil prices fall below $80 per barrel for the first time since January, dragging on momentum fear of a global recession and a US dollar strengthens rapidly.
West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell 5.7% to close at $78.74. The main US oil price is down about 36% from its June peak and is close to where it started the year. Brent crude, the global benchmark, fell 4.8% on Friday, ending at $86.15.
