Athiya Shetty and cricketer KL Rahul’s the wedding ceremony is over, the bride’s father Suniel Shetty confirmed to the media on Monday night, adding: “I’m officially a father-in-law now.” Suniel Shetty and her son Ahan left the wedding venue – their home in Khandala – after a candy distribution ceremony for the media who had been there all day. “Bahut acha raha, aur abhi phere bhi ho gaye, shaadi official ho chuki hai, aur official father-in-law Bhi you chuka hoon (Everything went well and phera Just concluded. The wedding has officially taken place and I am officially the father-in-law,” the actor shared with the media.
The wedding ceremony, attended only by Shetty’s closest family members and friends, was “beautiful,” said Suniel, dressed in traditional carnival attire. He quips that the “father-in-law chakkar” should be removed so that only a little ‘father’ remains. “son-in-law agar ka chakkar hat jaye aur agar dad hello rahu toh bhaut khoobsurat hai, kyunki woh part bhaut ache se nibhaata main hoon (It would be nice to not have a ‘dad-in-law’ and still have a ‘dad’ because that’s a responsibility that I do well),” he said.
Suniel Shetty also said the wedding reception will most likely take place after the IPL season ends.

Wedding guests included Krishna Shroff, Diana Penty, Anushka Ranjana and her husband Aditya Seal, and Anshula Kapoor. Ishant Sharma and Varun Aaron from the ticketing association were also photographed at the wedding.
Before the wedding, Shetty’s house in Mumbai was lit and decorated to resemble KL Rahul’s. famous photographer Rohan Shrestha was photographed at Athiya Shetty’s home over the weekend for the sangeet ceremony.
Athiya and KL Rahul are said to have started dating in 2019; she was with him when Team India competed in the UK in 2021 and was revealed to be in the pictures featuring Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma.
