Naba Kisore Das, Odisha Health Minister, who was seriously injured after being shot by police, died in hospital. The minister was shot by an assistant sub-inspector, who was arrested. The reason for the attack is unclear.

Naba Kisore Das was shot in the chest while on his way to a show. He was helicoptered to Apollo Hospital in Bhubaneswar, where he passed away from his injuries.

The hospital said the bullet injured the minister in the heart and caused internal bleeding.

“The injuries were repaired and steps were taken to improve the heart’s ability to pump blood. He received emergency ICU care. But despite best efforts, he was unable to recover. gave birth and was unable to cope with her injuries,” the hospital said in a statement.

Minister Naveen Patnaik offered condolences and said that the death of Naba Kisore Das is a great loss for Odisha.

“He is an asset to both the government and the party. He has successfully implemented many initiatives in the health sector for the benefit of the people,” the minister said.

He also directed the crime division to investigate the case.

Earlier today, Assistant Police Inspector (ASI) Gopal Das fired two shots at the minister.

Police said Gopal Das was caught by locals and has been taken into custody.

Witnesses confirmed that Naba Kisore Das was shot as soon as he got out of the car. The motive behind the attack is still unclear.

Videos from the scene showed Mr Das bleeding from his chest while others struggled to lift the injured minister, who appeared to be unconscious, and put him in the front seat of a car.
