O’Brien reroutes the Stone Age from Eclipse to the Belmont Derby

Stone Age (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) will skip the G1 Coral-Eclipse at Sandown on Saturday for a trip to the US next weekend.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained pony is currently targeted for the GI Belmont Derby, where it is likely to clash with Charlie Appleby’s Breeders’ Cup and French Modern Games (Ire) 2,000 Guineas winner (Dubawi) {Ire}), who was set to be ridden by Frankie Dettori.

O’Brien, who won last year’s Belmont race with the Bolshoi Ballet (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), said, “Instead, the Stone Age is going to Belmont next weekend.

“It will give him another week and it is clear that it is only against 3-year-olds. We may step up again after that, depending on how it goes. “

O’Brien, who won the sixth Eclipse with St Mark’s Basilica (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) 12 months ago, will not be available for this year’s renewal.

He also left G1 Third Cup Winner (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Group 3 winner Aikhal (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in Eclipse at Monday’s confirmation stage, but the pair There are also alternate targets.

“High Definition will attend the G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud the next day and Aikhal will attend the G1 Grand Prix de Paris next week (July 14),” the coach added.
