NYC mayor refuses to make exceptions for Kyrie Irving
New York Mayor Eric Adams made it very clear on Monday: No exceptions will be made for unvaccinated point guards Kyrie Irving come play at the Barclays Center.
“Listen, I want Kyrie to go to court. I would do anything to get that ring… But there’s so much at stake here,” Adams said in an interview with CNBC. “And I talked to the owner of the team [Joseph Tsai]. We want to find a way to take Kyrie to court, but this is a bigger problem.
“I can’t let my city shut down again. It’s sending the wrong message just to have an exception for one player as we tell countless New York City employees, ‘If you don’t,’ follow the rules, you will not be able to be employed. ‘”
