Kyrie Irving was once a part-time player for brooklyn network since he returned to their squad almost two months ago, but that may not be for long.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Wednesday announced that he “can’t wait” to possibly end vaccination mandates at some point in the near future. He said there are statistical benchmarks the city will have to meet but he expects a “real transformation” in the next few weeks.
Irving has not been vaccinated against COVID-19, so he is not eligible to play home games for the Nets at this time. Other major cities like Boston and Philadelphia have ended up on vaccination duty in recent days, and New York City will clearly do the same. At that point, Irving will be able to go to the Barclays Center.
The Nets have a chance of making it into the deep playoffs if things go well, even after the James Harden trade. It’s unclear how Ben Simmons will fit into the team, but it looks like the Nets will have both him and Irving available at some point in time and after the season.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver recently Criticizes the hypocrisy surrounding Irving’s plightbut it is expected to change very soon.
