The New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) on Monday unanimously voted to change the licensing procedure for chariot dealers by removing the longstanding requirement for applicants to be licensed. prior as a gymnast, jockey, assistant coach or coach for at least one year.

The change now allows managers to determine if a candidate is qualified based on experience, background and knowledge.

TDN first reported on this restrictive method in 2020describes the current version of the rule as “authoritarian, one-sided and protectionist, ensuring that the path of many bright young men trying to enter the sport will be blocked and only those Only insiders can play.”

The NYSGC also unanimously passed a second rule change that would eliminate the need to measure racehorses with muzzles, martingales and breastplates. Florida, Kentucky, California and other states have long since dropped weight requirements associated with that type of equipment.

A nullity claim hearing from the recent Saratoga Racecourse meeting is also on the agenda for October 3.

Commissioner Peter Moschetti Jr has been appointed by the NYSGC to decide the matter and asserts that the August 24 decision by Saratoga administrators to invalidate Commissioner Lil’s $25,000 lawsuit (Field Commission) from the eighth race will be kept the same.

The call to try and stand firm was made by then-owners Commissioner Lil, Sanford Goldfarb and Alan Khan (coach Philip Antonacci). Lil Com Commissioner ran fifth, beating 11 1/4 lengths that day. Both testimony at Monday’s committee meeting as well as the Equibase chart for the race state that the owner and trainer waive the claim were void.

Chief Executive Officer Robert Williams read in the filing that Moschetti determined that managers had declared void “after staff at the trial stables dismissed Commissioner Lil by mistake that the horse was unclaimed.” indemnify. Commissioner Moschetti determined that although the appellants were not at fault, the stewards did not abuse their discretion in rescinding the claim, as the horse had left the testing stable before it was denied. state veterinarian requested… and was not present for a short time by the commission officials…”

Though it wasn’t discussed in Monday’s meeting, Commissioner Lil was later entered and claimed $16,000 at the Aqueduct Raceway on September 17. He took it easy last in the fight. race that, beat 48 1/2 length. Coach Antonio Arriaga voted on behalf of The Players Group owner.
