Nvidia RTX 4090 GPU hits an incredible 3.8GHz overclock to break a bunch of records
Nvidia’s RTX 4090 has been overclocked to the next level, resulting in breaking a series of world records.
Here’s the Galax RTX 4090 HOF – it’s a ‘Hall of Fame’ edition graphics card, specially designed for professional overclockers to push hard – with Team OGS managing to hit incredible speeds 3.825GHz.
Like Wccftech (opens in a new tab) Reportedly, overclocking attempts, using liquid nitrogen cooling as you might have guessed, led OGS to win no less than 14 world records, including a bunch of new 3DMark records (Fire Strike Ultra and Fire). Strike Extreme, and Port Royal among other records).
The previous OGS team pushed this forward Galax RTX 4090 to 3.705GHzso this is a significant step forward for the overclocking outfit from Greece.
Analysis: It’s still early for the RTX 4090
The Galax RTX 4090 HOF is definitely a kit that comes with a dual 16-pin power adapter that allows GPU driven with 1000W, not less. With the OGS Team going from 3.7 GHz to over 3.8 GHz in this latest overclock, we can expect even faster overclocks – remember, it’s still very early on for the RTX 4090 and its record-breaking antics.
With no competition from EVGA (Kingpin model of the RTX 4090), since that card maker has parted ways with Nvidia, it looks like the Galax HOF will be a follower of future records, that’s for sure.
Note that the HOF card is not made for consumer purchase but is specifically targeted at overclockers using exotic cooling systems – this is a limited edition and very expensive graphics cardin other words.
That said, even the regular RTX 4090 models offer as much performance as we’ve seen and certainly represent a better price/performance than the model. thin on the ground RTX 4080 – the latter is certainly a disappointment in terms of its relative value proposition. It’s not that the RTX 4090 is such a good value – it still costs a fortune – but the fact that the RTX 4080 makes it look relative good is definitely a worry.
Maybe that situation with the price of the RTX 4080 will change when the RDNA 3 GPU arrives at a (slightly) cheaper price; we can but hope.
