Nutanix End of Life Terms –

Nutanix makes announcements about Nutanix hardware and software lifecycle information such as Nutanix End of Life (EOL), Nutanix End of Maintenance (EOM), Nutanix End of Support Life (EOSL) of hardware/node/block model and the software will also end in the coming months or years.

There are many terms that will provide different information about Nutanix hardware and software longevity, some of which are very confusing or not very well explained. So I’ve covered all of Nutanix’s hardware and software longevity terms here.

Nutanix Product Lifecycle Terms

The following are terms related to the longevity of Nutanix products that are very common and commonly used to help you understand product longevity.

End Of Life (EOL) is the last date for which the product is entitled to receive applicable Support. After this date, all Product Support will not be available unless covered by an active Extended Support contract.

End of Maintenance (EOM) means that the product has reached the end of Maintenance and Nutanix will only provide Patches primarily for security purposes if necessary. Any Software released after the hardware EOM may not be eligible on this hardware.

End of Support Lifecycle (EOSL) which means Nutanix will no longer provide all Support.

Error means any reproducible failure of the Software to perform any material function as set forth in the Documentation.

Long-term support (LTS) release means a Software release that Nutanix is ​​committed to maintaining and supporting longer than other releases, in order to provide greater stability for customers with longer new feature adoption cycles. In general, an LTS Release is a Maintenance Release and will contain very few (if any) new features and is built upon a mature and proven AOS codebase that has been successfully run by customers. in their production environment. LTS releases will be designated as “LTS” as part of the Software version number. Any release not designated as LTS will be considered an STS Release.

Maintenance means the Nutanix LTS Release and STS Release offering.

Release maintenance. The number in the “Z” position in the Software version number indicates the release of the Nutanix Software as a Maintenance Release. New maintenance releases have some bug fixes and often don’t include new features.

Be maintained means that Nutanix will provide an Update with alternatives and fixes for the Error but will not provide an Upgrade.

Main release. The number in the “X” position in the Software version number identifies the release of the Nutanix Software as the Major Release. The new major release has a large volume of features and several bug fixes.

Small release. The number in position “Y” in the Software version number identifies the release of Nutanix Software as a Minor Release. New minor release with nominal feature payload and some bug fixes.

Mixed support level means the product is covered by different levels of Support contracts in the same cluster.

Short-Term Support Release (STS) means the Software release will be Fixed for three (3) months from the Release Date The Release is followed by an Upgrade. The purpose of STS is to enable rapid feature adoption.

Release patch. The “n” position in the Software version number identifies the Software release as a Patch Release. Patch releases typically have fewer fixes than maintenance releases. Nutanix may limit the distribution of some Patches.

Release means LTS Release or STS Release.

Release date means the date a New Upgrade or Update is normally made available.

Software means any Nutanix software licensed to the customer for commercial purposes.

Donate means Nutanix support for Nutanix hardware and software related problems and queries. Refer:

Update means Maintenance Release or Patch Release.

Upgrade means Minor Release or Major Release.

End of sale date means the date the document announces the sale and end of life of a product distributed to the public.

Sale end date means Last Day to order the product. The product is no longer for sale after this date.

Hardware’s final delivery date means Final Delivery Date may be required. Actual delivery date depends on delivery time.

Service contract renewal date ends means the Last Day to renew or renew the service contract.
Note: Contract cannot be renewed after EOL Date (Last Support Date)

Nutanix will announce the sale and end-of-life dates for these Intel Skylake-based platforms –NX-3060-G6, NX-1065-G6, NX-8035-G6, NX-8155-G6, NX- 3155G- G6. The last day to order the affected platform is January 31, 2020.

Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from Nutanix support as shown in Table 1 of the EOL bulletin. Customers are encouraged to migrate to the newly released Cascade Lake-based platform – NX-3060-G7, NX-1065-G7, NX-8035-G7, NX-8155-G7, NX-3155G-G7.
