National University (NU) has proven that wiping out exclusions means something. And on Saturday night, it was certain that La Salle got it right.

Competing with confidence and composure, the Lady Bulldogs took down the Lady Spikers — as they did the rest of the field all season — to step up to victory for the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball championship.

With their attack all scoring twice the lead, the Lady Bulldogs produced a resounding 25-20, 25-12, 25-21 victory, silencing the massive La Salle crowd that had arrived at the Mall of Asia Arena. in the hope of seeing National U 14 -end the game winning.

“I don’t know why, but our match changes every time we face La Salle,” said Mhicaela Belen, who scored 16 points for NU, in Filipino. “Perhaps because we have so much respect for them, we are all in our elements when it comes to them.”

Alyssa Solomon added 15 points while Ivy Lacsina and Princess Robles each took 12 points for NU, possibly ending their first title in 65 years with Tuesday’s Game 2 win while completing a season. perfect.

NU coach Karl Dimaculangan said: “The players are really motivated to play in the big games. “They give their all. So maybe that’s it. That is their motivation. ”

The biggest motivation right now is to end the season with a clean sweep to win the championship. They have won 15 games so far, but Dimaculangan decided not to stop there.

It was, however, a huge response to the statement La Salle assistant coach Benson Bocboc made on the eve of the First Half when he said the 14-0 win was “not worth it” when it came to Final match.

“We used the stepladder format to prepare and see who we would face in the final,” said Dimaculangan. “It’s good that we were able to do everything we were prepared for. Although there are some things we have to do in the next game.”

One thing to work on

National U will attempt to tackle the nine unforced errors it made in the third set that essentially allowed the Lady Spikers to close the gap.

“We’re happy now that we won, but we made a lot of mistakes, especially in the simple things,” said Solomon, who scored four of NU’s last five points, speak. “Those are the things we need to do in training.”

NU waited until the middle of the first set before displaying their usual dominant flair, taking a 16-9 lead.

But La Salle didn’t give up easily, threatening to be in just 13-17 as he watched Solomon drill aces to gain momentum back in with the Lady Bulldogs’ backing.

The Lady Bulldogs made more spins, 8-4, in the opening frame, but they produced five kills against Lady Spikers’ one, which shook the resolve of La Salle’s wing spikes.

It’s essentially the same in the second, except that the Lady Bulldogs are more intense as they bury the Lady Spikers to a double-digit deficit to highlight another dominant outing.
