In this continuing series, we’ll be taking a look at US-bred and/or conceived athletes taking part this upcoming weekend at the Japan Racing Association tracks, focusing on pedigree and/or performance within sales. Here are the horses of interest this weekend running at Chukyo Racecourse. Sunday’s G2 Kinko Sho in Chukyo pitted 5-year-old mares Lei Papale (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) and Akai Ito (Jpn) (Kizuna {Jpn}) in Group 1 against the likes of Potager (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn} x Ginger Punch) and veteran Gibeon (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn} x Contested):

ENTER CODE (f, 3, Point of Entry – Indian Valley, by Cherokee Run) are half-sisters to MGSP Splashy Kisses (Reprimand) and no longer half-sister winning with SW Chhaya Dance (AP Indy) and coming to triple-ranked Convocation (Pulpit). The third dam palette by filly (Mr. Pros Inspector), a three-time winner at the group level in France and placed in no less than three Is ranks in the country, is responsible for the Eclipse Award-winning Teen Tempera (AP Indy) and MGSW/G1SP Equerry (St. Jovite). BAHIR DAR (c, 3, American pharoah–Llanarmon, by Sky Mesa) Still no bad results in a third started so far, having finished second in his first two appearances at Hanshin late last year before breaking out with a first win at Kokura in Jan 29. Shadai Corporation acquired the dam of the pony late April, GII winner Natalma S. 2013, in 2018 and she was insured in Kentucky by Mendelssohn before she exported to Japan. CORDON ROUGE (f, 3, American pharoah–Champagne Room, by Broken Vow) was the first pony for her dam, 2016 champion, champion 2 year old pony and GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies heroine who produced this dirty 24th Feb, covered by Evenly and sent to Japan. Champagne Room, who dropped a Triple Crown winner’s pony at the North farm on March 14, 2020, is the daughter of Lucky To Be Me (Bernstein), who was purchased by Katsumi Yoshida for $1 $.25 million at Keeneland in November 2017 before resuming to produce GSP Fidele (Jpn) (Heart’s Cry {Jpn}). Lucky To Be Me passed away in 2021. American pharoah selected 75% of the winners for the Japanese beginners (21/28). B-Northern Farm (KY)
