Bhopal:

Without pay for seven months, seven employees of a private company tried to end their lives by drinking poison at a factory in Indore, police said on Thursday.

They were taken to the government-run MY Hospital, where their condition is said to be out of danger.

The workers are said to have not received regular pay for the past seven months and they have been transferred to another branch.

“We haven’t been paid by the management for the past few months. That’s why our friends consume poison,” said Anil Nigam, one of the men’s colleagues.

Senior police officer Ajay Singh Kushwaha said the factory workers had not been paid for the past seven months.

He said: “They work for a company that produces raw materials for modular kitchens. They were even transferred to work at another factory in Banganga. We are investigating the whole matter. “.

According to figures released recently by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Madhya Pradesh recorded the third highest number of suicides nationally with 14,965 cases in 2021, after Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
