The fight for justice continues. Unfortunately, after the second local investigation into the 2013 death of Kendrick Johnson, the case was closed without charges being brought, according to CNN. If you recall, a Georgia teenager was found dead in a rolled up exercise mat. His unresolved case sparked outrage and several petitions on Change.org honoring Kendrick to reopen the case were created.
Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk reopened the case last year after not having access to files related to the case in 2019. Ultimately, the sheriff suspects no foul play. . Sheriff Paulk called the teen’s death a “strange accident” and said, “There’s nothing to prove a murder.”
Sherrif added, “No crime was committed, but Kendrick’s family called him a liar and said it was part of a much larger cover-up. Jaqueline Johnson, Kendrick’s mother, said. WSB-TV that she did not trust local authorities and wanted federal investigators to take a different look at her son’s death.
“We already know that nothing will be done on your watch. This is how you roll in Valdosta,” says Jackie. She and his father still believe their child was murdered. Jackie has revealed moments after the sheriff announced her findings that she will continue to fight and plans to ask the Justice Department to reopen her investigation.
Jackie divulged the new information Sherriff Paulk had, saying, “Didn’t you find anything in the 17 boxes? That’s the craziest lie you can tell. We already know which team you are on. You are not on the team of the righteous. The Johnson family is continuing to fight for justice for Kendrick and is asking the public to donate to their GoFundMe account so they can hire a private investigator. Our thoughts continue to go out to the Johnson family.
