Despite the crippling sanctions, Pyongyang conducted six nuclear tests between 2006 and 2017, and is said to be planning a seventh. It has continued to enhance its military capabilities – in violation of UN Security Council resolutions – to intimidate its neighbors and even potentially put the US mainland within striking range. .
