No Man’s Sky PS5 Pro update, details new cross-save support – PlayStation.Blog
Hello,
This year has been a very busy year for There is no human skywith 6 updates already available this year, including the massive World Update. Our last update, The Cursedjust launched a few weeks ago and players are already loving the spooky Halloween feel.
During game development, some features take weeks or months and others take years. Today, we’re releasing several features that have been in development for many years.
PlayStation 5 Pro
PlayStation 5 Pro launches today and is an incredible feat of engineering. We’re excited to get our hands on it from the very beginning of its development. We can’t wait to see what’s possible in No Man’s Sky with so much power at our disposal!
We’re excited to share the enhanced version of No Man’s Sky for PlayStation 5 Pro with players at launch. Delivers more detail and higher image quality than ever before on a previous console.
PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) enables incredible upscaling to deliver razor-sharp 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. No Man’s Sky will also soon support 8k resolution, with the universe looking incredible in 8K at 30fps.
Along with much sharper resolution at higher frame rates, the increased power of PlayStation 5 Pro has allowed us to improve graphics quality across the board. Players on PlayStation 5 Pro will see improved lighting, with ultra-high quality reflections and higher quality ambient occlusion in all modes. Explore the most beautiful and detailed alien worlds that No Man’s Sky offers for the first time on consoles.
Not only that, all of these improvements are also available on PS VR2! Our most stunning virtual reality visuals bring an even more immersive experience to the Interstellar Traveler.
Save cross
Starting today, we’re rolling out cross-save support across all platforms. This was a huge undertaking and one of the most requested features.
No Man’s Sky currently supports cross-play and cross-save between a large number of platforms including last and current generation consoles (including PlayStation 5 Pro – see below) and PS VR & PS VR 2.
Adding the ability to transfer saves between platforms via servers was especially difficult for No Man’s Sky, as the work involved increased depending on each platform supported and how long people had been playing. Both of those numbers are big for our small team.
It’s common for players to accumulate thousands of hours of exploration across space, building elaborate bases and cataloging their discoveries with incredibly detailed saves. Adding cross-save for us is like moving house, the longer people have lived there, the more complicated it is to move them! We also have players who played once at launch, eight years ago, suddenly uploading that save to a platform that didn’t even exist at the time!
Normandy returns
Everyone at Hello Games is a science fiction enthusiast. One of our absolute favorites is the incredible Mass Effect games. To join Mass Effect’s annual N7 celebration, we’re pleased to welcome the legendary SSV Normandy SR1 back to No Man’s Sky!
Back in 2021, Normandy made its debut on one of the first expeditions we ever did. The limited-time expedition has culminated in players being able to claim the Normandy for their fleet.
In the years since that event, we have welcomed a large number of Visitors. Many of these new players were envious of those who proudly displayed the Normandy in their frigate collections.
Mass Effect fans know that this legendary cargo plane only appears when needed most! Today and for the next two weeks, as a love letter from one sci-fi game to another, we’re giving everyone another chance to encounter Normandy in an overhauled version. of the original quest and add it to their collection.
Many thanks to our friends at Electronic Arts and Bioware for helping make this possible.
This is an important year for No Man’s Sky in many ways. We are so grateful to be able to continue this journey with you.
