No leadership change in Karnataka, Assure BJP sources in Delhi

Basavaraj Bommai has been selected by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a BJP leader in Delhi said.

Bengali:

Prime Minister Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai will hold the top post at least until the next parliamentary election which is less than a year away, sources in Delhi BJP have confirmed amid much speculation about the matter. this in the state. There have been rumors of a change on August 15, but sources in Delhi have ruled out such a possibility.

Confirming that the party was “not satisfied with Bommai”, a senior BJP leader in Delhi said, “One must remember that Mr. Bommai was selected by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after consulting BS. Yediyurappa and RSS (BJP ideological advisor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh)”.

“So they certainly won’t change him now, and even if the senior commander does, they will risk their image right before the election,” he added.

Rumors of a leadership change started after Union Home Secretary Amit Shah met Mr Bommai and is said to have dealt with the alleged law and order issue in the state.

Basanagouda Patil, MLA from Bijapur city constituency who had predicted that Mr Yeddiyurappa would be replaced, also spoke out this time. Another state BJP leader, B Suresh Gowda, a former MLA, added fuel to the fire.

Mr Yeddiyurappa has firmly denied the rumors. He told reporters: “There is no problem about changing the Head when the state elections are only seven or eight months away. Rumors about changing the Head must stop now.”

The confusion greatly cheered the opposition Parliament, which referred to Mr Bommai as a “puppet Prime Minister”.

“Basavaraj Bommai is being controlled by the high command and he is not allowed to work freely. That is hindering the development of the state. The original leaders of the BJP were not happy with Mr. Bommai. They feel that a new entrant to the party has been made a minister,” said Karnataka conference working president Saleem Ahmed.

Mr Bommai, who was supposed to visit Delhi last week, tested positive for Covid. Sources say once he recovers, the cabinet will be expanded.
