NEW DELHI: Indian Ace Fighters Nitu Ghhanghas on Saturday carved her name into the history books, becoming the 48kg world champion at the ongoing Women’s World Championships Boxing Championship in the national capital.
The 22-year-old athlete defeated Lutsaikhan Altansetseg of Mongolia in the final to win the gold medal. Nitu scored a 5-0 victory over Mongolian opponents.
Nitu became the sixth Indian boxer (male or female) to win world championship gold.
India now has a total of 11 Women’s World Boxing Championship gold medals with legend MC Mary Kom won six of them.
