Nissan registers Web3 patent, reveals plans to launch NFT, Virtual Merch in Metaverse


Nissan has decided to expand its automotive brand into the world of Web3. The Japanese automaker is seeking permission from the US authorities to showcase its virtual merchandise collection, which will also work within the metaverse ecosystem. Nissan is also expected to issue its own line of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to refresh its customer acquisition strategies around the world. Nissan’s decision to join Web3 comes as Japan is taking active steps to explore Web3 and its elements such as cryptocurrency, metaverse as well as NFT.

Autoplayer, founded in 1993, is planning to launch its own product NFT market that will allow users to trade as well as mint NFTs.

The launch of virtual NISSAN Apparel and car models are also available on the company’s tag along with a service that will facilitate the promotion of the company’s products in the metaverse.

Mark Kondoulis, a licensed trademark attorney from the United States known for tips on upcoming Web3-related patents, shared a screenshot of Nissan’s filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office. United States (USPTO).

Nissan’s entry into the Web3 arena comes just days after it began testing in the ‘Nissan Hype Lab’, the company’s official virtual store. Launched by Nissan Japan, this virtual store will allow people to check out cars and complete purchase paperwork within the metaverse ecosystem.

However, Nissan is not the only auto giant to do so.

From India, Mahindra and Mahindra set foot in the NFT space in March 2022, announcing offerings based on its iconic Thar sport utility vehicle (SUV).

Mercedes, volkswagen, Toyota, FordAnd MG . engine also took theirs first steps into the Web3 world by creating virtual offices and hiring NFT design teams.
