Nissan recalls more than 300,000 SUVs in the US for unexpectedly opening the hood

Nissan Motor is recalling more than 300,000 SUVs in the United States because of an issue where the hood suddenly opens, obstructing the driver’s view and increasing the risk of a crash.

The Japanese automaker’s North American division says 322,671 Pathfinder vehicles for models from 2013 to 2016 are subject to the recall.

Nissan says a build-up of dirt on the secondary roof latch can cause it to remain open even when the roof is closed, potentially allowing it to pop up without warning, according to filings with US regulators. Ky.

Nissan said a remedy is under development and it will issue a temporary notice starting Wednesday.
