Nintendo Switch Online: Sega Genesis Titles Alien Soldier, Super Fantasy Zone, Light Crusader Now Available

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers now have access to three additional titles, this time all Sega Genesis games: alien soldier, Super fantasy zoneand Light Crusader.

Announced in a press release, these classic games are now available to download and play if you’re a subscriber to Nintendo’s premium Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, which gives you access to not only Sega Genesis games but also Nintendo 64 titles. Here’s what to expect with each of the three Sega Genesis games:

Alien soldier

“In Alien Soldier, the renowned developers at Treasure invite you to play a birdman with steel wings in a fight against 25 bosses. In this challenging game, you can learn new tactics with every beat… or take advantage of that handy Rewind feature to perfect your run.”

Alien Soldier is a run and gun action game that was first released for Genesis in 1995. In the US, it was only available through the Sega Channel cable service. The game was re-released on the PlayStation 2, and years later it was re-released on the Wii Virtual Channel and Steam.

Super fantasy zone

“Super Fantasy Zone allows you to power Opa-Opa that always appears on eight colorful planets.”

Super Fantasy Zone debuted on the Sega Genesis, or Mega Drive, in Japan in 1992. It wouldn’t come to the US until 2008, when it was released on the Wii.

Light Crusader

“In Light Crusader, also from Treasure, let the nobility guide you through a lovingly crafted action RPG.”

Light Crusader appeared on Genesis in 1995, before being re-released on Steam 15 years later in 2010. It combined RPG, action, and platforming elements in one package.
