Nikes tap ex-Twitter exec for DE&I lead role


American sportswear giant Nike Inc. appointed James Loduca as director of diversity, equity and inclusion. Loduca is the fourth person to take on the role since 2020.

“Delighted to join Nike as the company’s new director of diversity, equity and inclusion,” Loduca said via LinkedIn.

“In an increasingly polarized age, sport is one of the few things that still brings us together. Nike believes that if you’re fit, you’re an athlete– and I’m thrilled. get to join the team and help lead efforts to create a level playing field where everyone can win.”

Loduca joined Nike from Twitterwhere he most recently served as Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) at the US tech giant.

He replaces former Nike head of DEI, Jarvis Sam, who left the company at the end of November, just six months into his role. Prior to Sam, Felicia Mayo served as the company’s director of talent, diversity and culture for two years until August 2022, after Kellie Leonard was named Nike’s first diversity director in 2018 and hold this role until 2020.

This week, Nike also announced on Wednesday a number of senior leadership changes, including a new vice president and general manager for women, as the Portland, Oregon-based company looks to strengthen leadership across the board. its division, as part of its ‘Accelerated Direct to Consumers’ (CDA) plan, first announced in 2020, as a strategy to unlock long-term growth and profitability .
