NIA gets mail threatening ‘attack’ in Mumbai by person with Taliban links | Mumbai News



MUMBAI: The National Investigation Agencyof the (NIA) The Mumbai office received an email on Thursday claiming that a person was affiliated with Taliban will carry out an “assault” in Mumbai, police said on Friday.
City Police and Maharashtra . Anti-Terrorist Team (ATS) was alerted after sending the letter, an official said.
According to police, the email address used to send the threatening message had “CIA” in it and the sender claimed that a person with Taliban connections would carry out an attack in the city.
The official said the sender’s IP (internet protocol) address was traced back to Pakistan.
A similar letter was sent to the federal agency last month. Police conducted an investigation and did not find any substances in it, he said.
Police suspect this may be a prank, as such letters have also been sent to the investigating agency before, the official added.
