Automotive safety regulators are working on a 2020 Ford Recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is looking into whether the repair FoMoCo made to the front brake hoses that broke prematurely was correct.

Based on Reuters, the company said it will partner with the probe into 1.7 million vehicles. The safety agency said there were many complaints about broken brake hoses and brake fluid leaks with little or no warning.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is opening a recall query for 1.7 million US Ford vehicles from the 2013-2018 model year. The agency has opened an investigation – known as a “recall query” – to further evaluate and determine if more vehicles should be recalled.

With a safety probe, the agency assesses the scope and severity of potential defects and other possible safety-related problems.

Most NHTSA investigations begin as a preliminary review, in which agency engineers request information from the manufacturer, including data on claims, injuries, and warranty claims. The manufacturer may also present its views on the alleged defect and may request a recall.

After the assessment, NHTSA will either end the investigation or move on to the next phase. According to NHTSA, if a safety-related defect exists, the agency can send a “recall request” letter to the manufacturer.
