NHL extends holiday, postpones December 27 match

NHL announcement every single tweet Friday night, all games scheduled for Monday, December 27 will be postponed to provide full COVID-19 test results once teams return from the holiday season.

Teams are still allowed to return to practice on Sunday, December 26.

Fourteen games were scheduled for Monday. Only the Chicago Blackhawks, Montreal Canadaiens, New York Islanders and Tampa Bay Lightning are unaffected by these delays.

The league said in Friday’s press release that a further update on its return to play plans would come on Sunday. If there’s another round of positive tests later that week, it’s highly likely that further delays will occur.

Fifty games has been postponed this year, bringing the total number of postponements to 64 turns.
