NFL: Arizona Cardinals star JJ Watt will miss rest of pre-season with Covid-19

The Arizona Cardinals announced Sunday afternoon that defensive team JJ Watt will miss two remaining pre-season games after testing positive for Covid-19.

Watt will miss the Cardinals Sunday Night Football pre-season game against the Baltimore Ravens, as well as the team’s pre-season encounter in Tennessee.

Watt will have to be isolated from the group for at least five days, according to NFL Covid protocol.

Watt is no stranger to missing games after countless battles with injuries throughout his career.

Last year alone, he missed the final 10 games of the 2021 regular season with a laceration, biceps, rotator cuff and a detached shoulder.

However, he will return from the Cardinals 34-11 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the playoffs.

Watt isn’t the only Cardinal to miss time because of Covid as full-back Kyler Murray also missed time in training camp after testing positive for the disease earlier this month.

After not playing in the Cardinals’ first preseason game, Watt won’t see any action until the regular season.

Watt blamed a snake he found in his home for the positive test result as he took to twitter to provide more details about the removal of a snake that had entered his bathroom.

“Wake up this morning to find a baby rattlesnake in the bathroom curled up in the corner,” he said.
