Putting your Vermintides aside, because it’s not too long until Fatshark’s next co-op action game, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, will launch on PC on November 30. To aid pre-players, some details about one of the game’s four character classes have been revealed in a new gameplay video. See below to find out why you don’t want to mess with the Psyker class.
As you might have guessed from the name, Psychers are psychics with psychic powers. They are not loved by the others in the Imperium but, if nothing else, they are appreciated for what their abilities can do. The psyker also doesn’t like other people much, including other psykers. Psyker’s power is derived from something called Warp, which charges when they kill enemies.
Members of the Psyker class are known as psykinetics, which sound a little more violent than your standard telekinesis, and they can do things like blast enemies’ brains with this power. Your psykers need to stay as far away from harm as possible because they’re not as hardy as other classes. If you don’t meditate every now and then to cool off your psyker, you’re also likely to explode. Literally explosive, not just a tantrum.
Ed managed to get some practice time with Darktide returned to Gamescom in August and found it very interesting, if familiar. “The giant reptiles staggered toward us were wearing armor, so we would have to micromanage our positions to lead them away from the group,” he said, “or a boss boss. would rattle down the stairs and we needed to get back to the safe pastures quickly. Sticking together is everything, and the game understands how to wear away this glue.”
