New Ultra Limited Brabus P 900 Rocket Edition Launches With 888bhp

Standard Mercedes-AMG G 63 already a pretty epic car with a tall bonnet, huge proportions and of course a powerful V8. Brabus has brought the element of threat up a few aspects with its latest release SUV creative – P 900 Rocket Edition.

The P 900 Rocket Edition can be ordered right now, though pricing hasn’t been announced. With 900 XLP Sitting comfortably north of £500,000, we expect a similar price point for the Rocket Edition, as both are limited to 10 pieces. However, Brabus’ new car should have plenty of eye-catching characters for the money.

Brabus says the P 900 Rocket Edition has ‘the performance of a race-ready supercar’ combined with ‘the power of Brabus XLP’. While Brabus doesn’t say how much the P 900 weighs, the XLP model weighs in at 2,983kg, so a pretty powerful engine is needed to support those claims. Under the bonnet you’ll find the same 4.5-liter twin-turbo V8 as the XLP, producing 888hp and 1,250Nm of torque. Fuel consumption is unsurprising at 16.3mpg on a combined cycle.

That power is sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission, which can be switched to manual mode with paddles mounted on the steering wheel. There’s also a Sport mode that opens the electronically controlled exhaust valves, or closes them in the quieter ‘Go home’ mode if you want a little more privacy. Despite sharing the same engine and pickup body as the 900 XLP, the Rocket Edition accelerates from 0-62mph 0.7 seconds faster, at 3.7 seconds. Top speed is limited to 174mph.

Far from the XLP, the P 900 has its own unique wheels. They are 24-inch rims made of carbon fiber, wrapped in significantly more terrain-friendly low-profile tires than those found on the XLP. This, along with the lower travel height offered by the new Brabus ‘RideControl’ coil suspension should explain much of the P 900’s improved acceleration.

Despite its lower position than the XLP, the new car still delivers as much visual shock and awe or as “a momentary luxury” as Brabus puts it. Starting at the front, there’s a Brabus badging that replaces the usual three-pointed star, a new grille and bumper design as well as a illuminated rear radiator. There is also a lower lip splitter made from carbon fiber. On the bonnet, you’ll see a “PowerView hood” for added aggression.

Arguably the most eye-catching feature on the bottom of the P 900 are the taillights, which glow red in Sport mode. New air intakes appear in front and behind the wheels. At the rear, the payload bars are in the passenger compartment, and there’s a new diffuser and rear bumper. The words ‘Brabus’ are embossed on the rear spoiler.

The P 900 Rocket Edition is also spectacular inside. There are two leather tones that combine black with “Rocket Red” and diamond stitching. You’ll also find a Brabus “Heritage” pattern paying homage to the brand’s founding year (1977) with the tag “77”.
