New report says Silver Surfer will come to Disney+ before Fantastic Four movie
Silver Surfer could be coming to Disney Plus – even before the upcoming Fantastic Four movie in 2024.
At least, that’s the rumor on the entertainment news site Cosmos Circus (opens in a new tab)which states that a special TV Silver Surfer can be Disney Plus sooner or later.
For those who don’t remember, or would rather forget, metal-bodied messengers appeared in 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and often appear to herald the arrival of Galactus – a giant eating entity. human flesh in the world, next to humans. Thanos won’t look any bigger than its thumb.
We’ve seen Galactus briefly in the 2007 Fox film, though there’s been no mention of the character, or Silver Surfer, in the MCU so far.
However, we’d love to see Silver Surfer revisited in a fun Marvel format – and we know the company is moving forward with more ‘presentations’ that help introduce or highlight characters while avoids the lengthy work and expense required of 10 episodes of a three-hour TV series and feature film.
We got a Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special later this year, and Cosmic Circus has hinted that we’ll see the mysterious Silver Surfer project in progress launch in a similar fashion on the platform. Disney streaming.
It would make sense to do the same for Silver Surfer, especially given the lame critical response to the last film in which the character appeared.
Silver Surfer on Disney Plus: Will it Happen?
This seems like a slim rumor so far, but it seems likely in the context of the MCU. We know that, since Disney’s acquisition of Fox was completed in 2019, the merged companies have had great ambitions for IP previously owned by Fox (possibly X-Men Link at the end of Ms Marvel show a different route for some of those Fox IPs to also bind to the MCU).
We already have a Fantastic Four movie confirmed for 2024, and a Silver Surfer special would be a great way to establish that movie’s story before it hits theaters – especially if Galactus is being held up. considered the next big bad for the MCU.
That spot now belongs to Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors (The Harder They Fall), who will become the focal point for the next Avengers movie, Kang Dynasty, released in 2025.
