New Porsche Taycan update boosts range to 31 miles

Porsche announced the latest series of updates for Taycan. Changes include improved range, better charging capabilities, and tweaks to the infotainment system. Customers can bring their Taycan to dealers now to get the new features.

The Taycan has been with us since 2019 and since then it has received a number of updates on its technology, largely thanks to Porsche’s growing knowledge of battery usage in tram. Porsche has sold more than 75,000 Taycans and each will be able to benefit from the latest update.

“This campaign will allow all customers to benefit from the continued growth of Taycan. Kevin Giek, Vice President of Model Line Taycan, said that we have extensively optimized the model series in all aspects since 2019. “New functions have been added and others have been modified or modified. tuned to further enhance the customer experience.”

Porsche has reviewed the Taycan’s powertrain and the Taycan can now de-energize the front electric motor to reduce friction during driving in ‘Normal’ and ‘Range’ modes. This will put less strain on the battery and increase the operating range. Depending on the model, Porsche says the range can be up to 50 km (31 miles).

To make the operating status of the all-wheel drive system easier to see, the updated Taycan now displays an energy flow indicator on the center display. Energy recovery can also be set to automatic so that it is retained even if the driver changes the driving settings.

Charging has also been improved as the Taycan can now receive maximum charging speed over a wider range of external temperatures. Maximum charging time won’t charge, but Taycan owners will find charging more appropriate.

The 22kW integrated charger is also now available for retrofit. Retrofit includes activating the ‘Plug and Charge’ function – allowing payment to be charged without the need for a card or app.

Porsche Communication Manager (PCM) is another software update included in this overhaul. There are new functions, new menu design plus voice control optimization and Spotify integration. The navigation system can also filter charging stations and the head-up display has also been tweaked. The ‘ParkAssist’ function now works at a larger range, resulting in better parking searches. Customers can also request keyless entry and start.

Free updates for older Taycan models will roll out this year to accommodate the car’s 2023 version. Porsche says customers should wait one day for the modifications to be installed.
