New Mercedes-AMG CLE 63 2023 scouts during winter testing

Our spy photographers have spotted the all-new Mercedes-AMG CLE 63 undergoing winter testing in Sweden, ahead of its expected launch in 2023.
With rumors suggesting that Mercedes can eliminate the C-Class Cabriolet, this new convertible will bridge the small gap between C-Class and E-Class convertible, and will be on top CLE limit.
Noting the bulging wings, larger air intakes and reduced travel height, we believe this is a performance-focused CLE 63. It also has a temporary dual exhaust system, unlike on previous prototypes where the intakes were not visible. In terms of electrification, there doesn’t appear to be any visible charging port, however one can be hidden beneath the camouflaged body.
Although the new CLE uses the versatile MRA-2 platform (which underpins both the C-Class and S-Class ) and possibly a six-cylinder engine, it is likely that the CLE 63 will have the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder as the upcoming Mercedes-AMG C 63.
This engine is paired with a 6.1kWh battery pack and a rear-mounted electric motor producing up to 201bhp. This setup will allow electrical output to exceed 635bhp, although expect it to boast the same power as the new. BMW M4 Competition Convertible’s 503bhp.
