New image leaked by Meta’s smartwatch, which is said to come with Android, Qualcomm SoC

Meta’s first smartwatch with a dual camera has been rumored for quite some time. Facebook’s parent Meta platform reportedly halted development of its first wearable last year, but a new leak suggests the project is back on the table with a new version. A well-known tipper has posted an image of the alleged Meta smartwatch and shared some of its specs online. The new version of the Meta smartwatch is said to run on a custom version of Android and it could be powered by a Qualcomm SoC.

The leaked images show a “new version” of the Meta watch that was leaked in October 2021. The tipster claims that there are some changes to the sensor array on the back and others. aesthetically distinct. The wearable appears to have dual rear cameras and a detachable frame design. The new renders suggest a waterdrop-style notch on the display, housing the front-facing camera and the camera sensor on the back against the wearer’s wrist. A sensor array is also arranged at the back. Furthermore, there appears to be a side-mounted button for navigation.

The upcoming Meta smartwatch is said to be powered by the Qualcomm SoC. It is supposed to run on a custom version of Android instead of Google’s Wear OS platform.
The supposed Meta smartwatch is codenamed Milan reported was due out in 2022, but that didn’t happen. Last year, Bloomberg report that Meta has dropped its plans to launch an Android smartwatch with a dual camera.
Most of the smartwatches currently on the market, including Apple Watch, excluding cameras, and Meta’s new concept could have differentiated its wearables in the space. If Meta launches a new wearable this year, it will compete with the likes of Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, and others. However, the social media giant has yet to confirm any launch date or specifications of its first wearable.
