NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of a new airbase at Deesa in Gujarat’s northern Banaskantha near the Pakistani border.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 12th Defense Expo, Modi said the growing reliance of the Indian armed forces on Indian-made equipment is like ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ as it is proof of India’s ever-improving position in the world. the global defense sector is dominated by a few. “We used to release pigeons, and now we release cheetahs,” he said.

Immediately after the opening of the exhibition, the Prime Minister unveiled the HTT-40, an indigenous trainer aircraft designed by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd at the India Pavilion at Gandhinagar’s Heliport. He also released Mission DefSpaceaims to invite startups and MSMEs to provide solutions to 75 challenges.
