New date and location confirmed

The WBA knockout match between Hughie Fury and Michael Hunter will land on October 29 at Resorts World Arena in Birmingham.

Originally set for July 2 in Manchester, the intriguing bout was postponed due to Fury’s side becoming ill. Now with a new date and new place, it’s perfect Hughie Fury tells Sky Sports News he’s eager to fight and move on.

“There is nothing worse than having to pull out of a war. My path is now direct to Michael Hunter, and then the next. “

“I’m 100% looking forward to the chance to win world titles.”

The Stockport-born boxer has fallen short three times in his career so far. His loss was at the hands of Joseph Parker, Kubrat Pulev and Alexander Povetkin. However, at the age of 27, he has plenty of nights under the lights to come.

Hunter, the only loser to Oleksandr Usyk in cruiser class, has yet to get his heavy campaign out of gear. This fight in the UK could well be one of the doors that opens up more substantial opportunities.

He has stated that a win here would be a stepping stone for Fury’s cousin – Current WBC champion, Tyson. Hughie, of course, had other ideas.

“He can say what he wants – at the end of the day, he’ll be knocked out.”

“I don’t want to devalue him, he’s a good fighter and obviously nobody wants to fight him. But these are the battles that I want. We’ll see what he has to bring tonight. “
