New ‘Chameleon’ kerbside electric car charger revealed by Connected Curb
Connected Curb has revealed a new kerbside tram charger. Dubbed the Chameleon and at just under a meter tall, it’s one of the smallest dual chargers on the market.
Chameleon is a solution for electric vehicle drivers without a driveway, its maker says. Designed and manufactured in the UK, it is primarily made from recycled steel. Connected Curb claims the Chameleon is also accessible to drivers with disabilities, including those in wheelchairs, and does not require planning permission to install.
Furthermore, the charger supports what Connected Curb calls “future technology,” including 5G and air quality sensors. Chameleon follows the same modular design of all other Connected Curb devices and thus reduces the need for massive excavation during installation.
Chris Pateman-Jones, CEO of Connected Curb, said: “We are committed to facilitating the widespread transition to electric vehicles for users who are unable to charge their vehicles at home.
“Our newest charger design – Chameleon – is a real game changer in the EV infrastructure market. To pack so much technology into a small post with dual sockets is not a feat, and the solution is thanks to the innovation of the Connected Curb team. “
