Described in prototype form in a video released online, the 5-seater hybrid SUV is the first in the Chinese company’s new F-series of models, which is expected to expand to include SUV models. and other pickup trucks in the future.
Details on the all-terrain model, internally codenamed SF, are still scarce ahead of its scheduled debut at the 2023 Shanghai auto show in April. Although BYD officials have said it, that it is nearly 5,000 mm long and runs on a wheelbase at 2,850 mm.
BYD says that the SF will be equipped with a new gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain with a capacity of 671 horsepower of the Mercedes-Benz G63. The combined range is set at “more than 1,200 km”. The drivetrain is routed through an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive with fully variable power distribution between the front and rear axles, as well as a torque vectoring function between the rear wheels. Based on the ladder chassis, the SF is also confirmed to receive front, center and rear differential locks.
