New Alpine A110 R has a top speed of 177mph

The launch of the new A110 R may be near, but Alpine gave us a final teaser ahead of its October 4 launch. In two teaser videos, Alpine shows us the acceleration and top speed metrics of the A110 R.

The claimed 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds makes the R the fastest A110 however, beating the S model tops the current range by 0.3 seconds. The second video shows a top speed of 177mph, 6mph faster than the S.

In both videos, the torque figure shown on the driver display stands at 340Nm. This is identical to A110 WILL and GT. The display also shows more than 300hp of power output, but this is more than capable of reproducing the 296hp of the 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder pump in the hot A110 S and GT versions. than. This means that the R’s improved performance won’t come from the extra power, but rather the amount of weight savings and potentially gearbox tuning.

While we’ve also seen an A110 with the ‘R’ badge in the past with the look of an R-GT race car, we don’t expect the A110 R to come with a six-speed sequential transmission or a roll cage. . Alpine says the A110 R will be “an extreme version. Lighter. Sharper. And even more racing inspiration.” The company also says it has been designed for the racetrack but will remain legal.

We’ve spotted a couple of reveal images that show the new front bumper will have a more aggressive lower splitter and there will be a swan-neck rear spoiler that will also generate more downforce. New side skirts appear along with a new rear bumper and ventilated bonnet. To save weight, the roof is made from carbon fiber. The total weight saved from the A110 S with the aero kit is 34kg.

Inside, we can see six-point harnesses and bucket seats, although the latter is not as fully centered as the pair of Sabelt seats found in the R-GT race car.

The R will top the A110 range, ahead of the standard model, GT, A110 S and ‘South Beach Colourway‘ version. The Suzuka Formula One Grand Prix will host the A110 R launch event, but attendees of the 2022 Paris Motor Show will also be able to see Alpine’s latest work in metal from October 17.
