Netflix’s class pits poor students on scholarships against the elite in an exclusive high school: Trailer and release date announced

Class, the Hindi adaptation of the Spanish Elite series, has just got a trailer and release date. Netflix has confirmed that the youth film, which raises questions about class differences and wealth, will release on the platform on February 3. Like the original, the film adaptation by Director Ashim Ahluwalia (Daddy) pits three working-class kids against the powerful elite of a prestigious international school, with the next film exposing the dark side of the wealthy. Currently, there is no information on the number of episodes for Class.

Trailer for Class opens with a voiceover, presumably from the local police, as we are shown blurry images of police examining what appears to be a corpse. “Has something like this happened in Hampton before?” said the voice, suspecting the three kids who had recently joined the elite school on scholarship – Dheeraj (Piyush Khati), Balli (Cwaayal Singh) and Saba (Madhyama Segal). The Class the trailer then goes back in time to show the splendid school – the school is decorated with modern facilities and frequent parties, which is not a common sight for new students come from the more barren lands of Delhi. Dheeraj described the school as “the best and the most expensive”, filled with “spoiled children from strange families”.

“You will only get in trouble here. Be careful here, okay?”, Suhani (Anjali Siwaraman), who had a crush on the new students, confidently warned Dheeraj. Throughout the Classroom trailer, our heroes are seen as targets for bullying, be it because they don’t know English, the way they act, or simply exist among the elite. “Why do you have to give alms to every beggar,” a classmate asked Suhani, after telling Dheeraj to go away and not talk to her. Then we were introduced to Balram Patwal aka Balli, a passionate bodybuilder who isn’t afraid to take off his shirt to impress the girls in his class. “I come from Hindi, but my English is like Bullet Train,” he says, while the trailer gives the impression that he has finally made it into the modeling team for the school. Understandably, the other kids became jealous.

Then the Classroom trailer shifts to a darker side, bringing in the humming Neeraj (Gurfateh Pirzada), friend of Dheeraj who tried to encourage him to steal from the rich. “Black money is earned illegally. We should rob them anyway,” he told reluctant Dheeraj, who was finally caught up in the scheme. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worse, and three new students end up as prime suspects in a murder case, no one believing their innocence simply because they come from a lower class. . “I wish someone could beat them at their own game and show them that we exist too,” Dheeraj said in the dub. “We’re in the same class.”

In the first day of this month, Netflix also revealed cast for Class, which includes Ayesha Kanga as Yashika, Chayan Chopra as Dhruv, Chintan Rachchh as Faruq, Moses Koul as Sharan, Naina Bhan as Koel and Zeyn Shaw as Veer. The series was written by a team of five – Rajesh Devraj (Gold), Kersi Khambatta (Being Cyrus), Raghav Kakkar (Faraaz), Bhaskar Hazarika (Ravening) and Kashyap Kapoor.

All episodes of The Class drop on February 3 on Netflix.
