Netflix’s Wednesday has been renewed for Season 2. The renewed news comes via an announcement video that promises more “torture” ahead in a sequel series that reimagines the classic series. as a sly, modern teen mystery.
“We can’t wait to dive right into another season and explore the spooky, spooky world of Nevermore,” said Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, Wednesday’s Season 1 co-hosts. Netflix. “We just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”
Season 1 ends by concluding most of the spoiler mysteries that were established at launch, but clearly establishing some new territory that the gothic thriller could enter. Gough and Millar recently spoke to GameSpot about They want director Tim Burton to return for Part 2, although that was before the program was officially renewed. Burton directed several episodes of Season 1 but was logistically prevented from going to Romania for the entire production.
“He was involved all the way with the visual effects,” says Millar. “We talk to him weekly and he’s an incredible collaborator. We couldn’t have asked for a better situation. You never know how things will turn out. But With Tim, from the very beginning, he was very comfortable with us.”
By December, Wednesday was quickly breaking a number of records at Netflix after its late-November premiere. The fantasy series starring Jenna Ortega topped the Netflix Top 10 chart for the week from the 21st. to November 27 with 341.2 million hours of viewing after premiering on November 23. The performance became Netflix’s most watched show in a week, reaching 341 million hours.
