Netflix has an outage, streaming service for thousands of users is down

According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, Netflix’s video streaming services were down for thousands of users on Thursday.

There are approximately 1,800 reports on Downdetector, collating status reports from several sources.

According to Downdetector, about 55% of users have reported problems with the site.

Netflix did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.

Netflix, which has more than 200 million paid subscribers globally, remains the dominant streaming service.

Last month’s streaming service Discount its subscription plans in several countries as it wants to maintain subscription growth amid stiff competition and strained consumer spending.

Netflix, which operates in more than 190 countries, is looking to increase its market share in newer international regions as the US and Canadian markets mature. The company added about 7.6 million subscribers in the fourth quarter after dropping subscribers in the first half of 2022 as rivals like Paramount+ and Disney+ pulled in subscribers.

However, average revenue per member declined across regions in the last three months of 2022.

In February, Netlfix also fabricate plans to prevent password sharing for accounts on its streaming platform, including setting up primary location and paying a few dollars for an additional membership.

The video streaming giant, which estimates 100 million users worldwide use shared accounts, said members can now easily manage who has access to their accounts, switch profiles to a new account and still easily watch Netflix on their personal device or sign in to a new TV.
