Netflix animated series ‘Tekken: Bloodline’ to premiere on August 18


Netflix has released a full trailer for its upcoming animated film adaptation of TekkenBandai Namco’s popular fighting game franchise, and with it the show’s premiere date. Tekken: Bloodline will arrive on the streaming service on August 18, and will be available in several languages, including English and Japanese. The show focuses on Jin Kazama and takes place between the events of Tekken 2including his mother Jun Kazama who was one of the competitors of the Iron Fist Tournament, and Tekken 3. Jin made his debut in the third installment of the series released in 1996 after losing his mother and home to Ogre, one of the series’ villains.

In the series, Jin is trained under his grandfather Heihachi Mishima, the founder of the tournament, in his quest for revenge. You’ll hear Heihachi tell Jin to get rid of the pacifist Kazama and “steal [his] Mishima fire. “Yes, Heihachi sounds like a positive villain, because he’s the main antagonist of the franchise. The trailer also shows familiar faces to long-time fans, as the characters are. Game characters also appear on the show, including Hwoarang, Julia Chang, Nina Williams, Paul Phoenix, Ling Xiaoyu and Heihachi’s son Kazuya Mishima.
