Upgrading to an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X or a Ryzen 7 7700X can be trickier than an Intel equivalent, as while the latest Core CPUs give you the choice of using DDR4 or DDR5 memory, Ryzen 7000 This series is only compatible with newer and more expensive DDR5. Then there’s no reusing old DDR4 sticks with AMD’s latest and greatest, but with this week Black Friday trade you can get a brand new set of DDR5 for less.
These are the best priced DDR5 deals I’ve found for the UK and US crowds, except for any cases where the RAM modules themselves gave me bad vibes. bad – yeurgh – single channel. For us Brits, there’s a 16GB Kingston Fury Beast kit with a non-RGB design, while in the US, TeamGroup’s 16GB T-Force Vulcan kit is $10 off. I know it’s not a big name in memory like Kingston, but I’ve used Vulcan RAM myself and it’s fine.

Honestly, these things don’t come too soon. Not just because Ryzen 7000 Chips Have Some Black Friday Deals their own, but also because DDR5 is still much more expensive than DDR4 since the former became widely available last year. that is despite minimal in-game performance difference between two things: DDR5’s much higher bandwidth is balanced by higher CAS latency, so most current sets aren’t really much faster than good quality DDR4.
However, there is a definite advantage in the future when choosing a PC build based on DDR5. One thing AMD is really working on: DDR5’s latency will drop as manufacturers continue to develop it, potentially to the point where it’s simply faster than DDR4 outright. As a result, sticking with DDR4 RAM and motherboards will be cheaper in the short term, but it will likely become obsolete just like DDR3 did. For the same reasons, too.
Of course, if you want a Ryzen 7000, then you don’t have much choice. But you can rest easy knowing that a) you’re gearing up for the next-gen RAM train, and b) you’ve saved some money by taking advantage of one of these deals. I am assuming. You did?
