Nebraska fires head coach Scott Frost
The Scott Frost The era in Nebraska is officially over.
Athletic director Trev Alberts announced Sunday morning that Frost has been fired as the school’s head football coach and related head coach Mickey Joseph will take over on an interim basis.
Frost’s tenure at Nebraska has been a bitter disappointment as the show has only been 16-31 in the more than four years leading it. The Cornhuskers have never played bowls.
The big moment came on Saturday night when Nebraska lost a close game at home to Georgia Southern and lost 1-2 of the season. The Cornhuskers’ only win so far this season is a Week 1 win over FCS North Dakota.
Frost, a former Nebraska quarterback, was hired to much fanfare before the 2018 season after two years at Central Florida, including a 13-0 record (and Peach Bowl championship) in 2017.
Joseph’s first game as head coach will come on Saturday when the Cornhuskers host Oklahoma.
