Nearly 100 Students Sick After Gas Leak at Tamil Nadu School

Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu:

Nearly 100 students of a Corporation high school in Hosur district, an official said Friday, fell ill after lunch allegedly from a suspected gas leak from a septic tank on campus. .

Some of them suffered from nausea and some vomited in the classroom but had no serious symptoms, he claimed.

District V collector Jaya Chandra Bhanu Reddy, who visited the school and also the hospital where the children are being treated, said the children who were studying at Hosur Middle School fainted at around approx. 3:15 pm. They were immediately taken to Hosur Government Hospital and are being treated.

A total of 67 boys and girls were hospitalized. They will be examined to determine the cause, a senior health official told PTI.

Senior officials from the Pollution Control Board, Hosur Corporation and the School’s Education departments visited the school and organized an investigation.
